We’re writing, recording, and releasing 12 songs in 2021!

If you’re a songwriter or creator of things, then you probably have used your phone’s voice notes to preserve your ideas.  Over the years I have accumulated several hundred ideas that I’ve never fleshed out into a complete work. Hundreds of notes of me humming a melody, beatboxing a rhythm, playing a riff, or repeating a phrase.  Well, I’ve let these ideas collect dust for too long and have finally decided to do something about it.

Marlon and the Shakes is currently working  on a project called “12 In Twelve”. In this endeavor we are committing to write, record, and digitally release 12 songs starting in January 2021. Our hopes are to have a culmination show sometime after the final release in December, if/when venues finally open up.

COVID has forced many of us to find ways to create virtually, so we thought we could take advantage of many of our good friend’s talents since quite a few have established their own home recording studios.   Together with my good friends and band mates Adrian Morris (bass) and Anthony CJ Tucker (drums), we are using our musical resources to create the best song that we can within a month’s time in my home studio, Bloomfield Audio Labs.  We have also teamed up with a young producer, musician, and recording engineer named Ben Guy to help us bring our ideas to life.

All songs will be available on all major streaming platforms!
